July 2015 Superior Court Announcements

Effective?July 6, 2015, the Los Angeles Superior Court Central Probate Division, located at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse, 111 N. Hill St., Los Angeles 90012, will implement a new motion reservation process. All dates for motions to be set in Central Probate must first be reserved with the assigned courtroom. Motion dates can be reserved in person or by telephone from?1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., daily.

Once a date is reserved, the motion documents can be filed at the Filing Window. ?The moving party is encouraged to note “Date Reserved” above the hearing date on the motion documents. ?Anyone submitting motions without reserving a hearing date will be directed to comply with the motion reservation process. Motion documents will not be accepted without a reservation date.

Los Angeles Superior Court Family Law Changes?- Nine Northwest zip codes will be reassigned to Chatsworth effective July 1, 2015. ?The geographic areas in the following zip codes formerly assigned to the Van Nuys Courthouse for purposes of filing family law matters (including restraining orders) are reassigned to the Chatsworth Courthouse: 91362, 91304, 91307, 91361, 91303, 91306, 91367, 91032*, and 91301

The Chatsworth Courthouse is located at 9425 Penfield Ave., Chatsworth 91311. ?Cases filed before?July 1, 2015, will continue to be heard in the courthouse in which they were filed, absent further order of the court. *This change does not impact geographic areas within these zip codes that are designated to file family law matters at the Santa Monica Courthouse. Geographic areas assigned to file family law matters in Santa Monica will continue to file at the Santa Monica Courthouse.

Los Angeles Superior Court Family Law Changes – Effective?July 1, 2015, the Governor George Deukmejian Courthouse, located at 275 Magnolia Ave., Long Beach, 90802, will implement changes to family law case assignments. All newly filed petitions and newly filed motions, trial setting requests, and requests for orders (RFOs) on existing cases with matters assigned for hearing dates occurring on or after?July 1, 2015, will be assigned among three courtrooms: * Department S14 – Judge Ana Maria Luna* Department S15 – Commissioner John Chemeleski* Department S16 – Judge Randall F. Pacheco.

Matters calendared prior to the date of this notice for?July 1, 2015?or later shall remain in the same courtroom on the dates and times set, unless otherwise notified.

Los Angeles Superior Court Department Filings – We are often turned away, by the clerks, from direct, in-department?filings. ?To be safe, if you provide physical copies, include an additional complete set?in case we are directed elsewhere to file, but will be able to provide the department with the extra courtesy copy. ?If you are transmitting digitally, not to worry – JPL Process Service?will prepare the additional, complete set for you.

Lastly, July 3, 2015 is a court?holiday. ?All California courts?will observe Independence Day,?Friday, July 3rd and JPL Process Service will be closed, as well. Normal service resumes?Monday, July 6th.
