Mandatory* generally applies to attorneys or represented parties; self-represented parties and certain documents are exempt. Optional means permissive filing.
Available† confirms availability, but the mandatory/optional classification needs checking. Confirm with court means general availability was not established; it does not mean filing is unavailable. Probate labels do not certify mental-health filing options.

California e-filing questions
Is e-filing mandatory in every California court?
No. Requirements depend on the court, case type, document and filer. Many mandates apply to represented parties, with exemptions for self-represented litigants. Review the county instructions and California Rule of Court 2.253.
Can I use the same filing portal for every county?
Court availability and provider coverage can differ. Check the court’s approved providers and the portal’s supported courts. Some counties use a separate method, such as Riverside eSubmit or Ventura family-law eDelivery.
Does an electronic submission guarantee acceptance?
No. The court reviews submissions and may reject a filing. Check the court’s response, document requirements and applicable deadlines. Contact JPL if you need help identifying an available filing method.
Does the directory include court filing fees?
No. Court filing fees are separate from JPL’s service charges and any provider charges. Review the court’s current fee schedule and confirm the charges for your order.
