E-Recording Services
Electronic Recording With One Point of Contact
E-recording is the electronic submission of prepared documents to a county recorder for review and recording. It is commonly used for real estate and property records in counties that accept the document type being submitted.
Send JPL the county, state, document type, and deadline first. We will confirm whether electronic recording is available for your assignment and provide submission instructions. The county recorder reviews the documents and decides whether to accept them.
Need originals delivered or documents that cannot be e-recorded? See our walk-in county recorder’s office service.
Documents for E-Recording
Ask us about electronic recording for your prepared document. Depending on the county and its requirements, examples may include:
- Grant deeds and quitclaim deeds
- Deeds of trust and reconveyances
- Assignments and releases
- Liens and lien releases
- Abstracts of judgment
Availability varies by county and document type. A document’s appearance on this list does not guarantee acceptance for electronic recording.
What to Send With Your Request
- County and state where recording is requested.
- Document type, count, and page count for the assignment.
- Complete, legible documents with all required signatures, acknowledgments, and attachments.
- Your deadline and any special instructions.
- Contact and return information for updates and recorded copies.
Wait for our intake instructions before transmitting documents. We will confirm the accepted file format and submission method for your request.
How Our E-Recording Service Works
- Confirm your request. Contact JPL with the county, document details, and deadline. We confirm availability, fees, and instructions.
- Provide prepared documents. Submit your completed documents using the instructions provided by our office.
- County review and recording. Eligible documents are submitted electronically. The recorder controls acceptance and processing.
- Receive the result. We provide the recording confirmation and available recorded copies, or report a rejection so you can address the county’s stated requirements.
Tell us about urgent deadlines before ordering. Electronic submission does not guarantee immediate recording or a specific recording date. County schedules, review times, and document corrections can affect completion.
E-Recording or Walk-In Recording?
Electronic recording is an option when the county and document qualify. Walk-in recording provides an alternative when an in-person submission is needed. Review county recorder’s office services and walk-in recording pricing, or contact us to confirm the right submission method for your assignment.
Recording property documents is separate from court filing. For documents submitted to a court case, visit our court e-filing service. If you need documents delivered to another party, arrange process service separately.
E-Recording Questions
Can every document be e-recorded?
No. Each recorder determines eligible document types and submission requirements. Contact JPL to confirm your county and document before ordering.
Are recorder fees included in the $75 price?
No. The $75 JPL service fee excludes county recorder fees and advanced fees. We confirm applicable charges before you order.
Is e-recording the same as court e-filing?
No. E-recording submits documents to a county recorder. Court e-filing submits documents to a court. These are separate services.
What if the county rejects a document?
The recorder’s response identifies the issue. We communicate that response so you or your document preparer can make the required correction. Confirm any additional fees before resubmission.
JPL Process Service LLC coordinates submission of documents you provide. We do not prepare legal documents or provide legal advice. For official recording information, consult the Orange County Clerk-Recorder or the recorder for your county.
