Need out-of-state process service? Your case is moving forward, but the person or business you need to serve is in another state. Where do you start? What information does the process server need? How do you keep track of the assignment?

JPL Process Service, LLC provides nationwide process service for law firms, businesses, and individuals. Whether you have one assignment or several in different states, JPL remains your One Point of Contact.

Start Your Out-of-State Process Service Order

A complete order helps us understand the assignment and identify questions before service begins. Have the following ready:

  • The documents that need to be served.
  • The recipient’s name and service address.
  • Your deadline and any scheduled hearing date.
  • Any court-specific instructions or required proof-of-service form.
  • Useful details about the location or recipient, if available.

If you are unsure whether the address is current or an instruction can be carried out, tell us when you submit the order. Identifying those questions early helps us discuss the next step with you.

Choose Your Out-of-State Process Service Speed

JPL offers three service levels for nationwide assignments:

Service level When the first attempt begins
Standard 3–5 business days after receipt
Priority The next business day
Same Day The same day, where available

These timeframes refer to the first attempt, not completed service. For an urgent assignment, contact JPL with the address and deadline so we can confirm availability.

Review our current nationwide process service rates before ordering. Rates are per party, per address. If a location or other circumstance requires a different rate, we contact you for approval before proceeding at that rate.

What If the Address Is Wrong?

An old address can delay an assignment. If you already know the recipient has moved, let us know before placing the order. JPL also offers skip tracing and investigation services that may help locate a service address.

Contact us to discuss your assignment and the information available. Locating an address and completing service are separate steps; neither should be assumed from submitting an order.

Keep One Point of Contact

Coordinating assignments across multiple states can mean several addresses, deadlines, and sets of instructions. With JPL, your out-of-state process service assignments stay with one team to contact for questions and updates.

Use your client portal to view assignment updates. Upon successful service, JPL provides the proof or affidavit of service. Court filing is a separate service, so let us know if you also need filing assistance.

Confirm the Requirements for Your Case

Serving documents across state lines does not make every assignment the same. Provide the instructions and forms required for your case, and confirm any legal or court-specific requirements with your attorney or the issuing court.

Have Documents to Serve in Another State?

Send JPL your documents, service address, and deadline. We’ll help you get the assignment started with one team to contact.
