Court Update | Effective October 19, 2026
San Francisco Superior Court has reduced public counter hours at all of its clerks’ offices. Beginning October 19, 2026, the offices are open Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
If you need in-person assistance, plan to arrive before the new closing time. Afternoon drop boxes remain available for document submissions.

Drop Boxes Available Until 4 P.M.
The court’s notice states that drop boxes are available outside the main entrance of each clerk’s office from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Documents deposited by 4 p.m. will be processed with that day’s submission date. This allows afternoon document drop-offs after the public counters have closed.
Which Clerks’ Offices Are Affected?
The change applies to all San Francisco Superior Court clerks’ offices. The notice identifies these locations:
| Clerk’s Office | Location |
|---|---|
| Civil | Civic Center Courthouse, 400 McAllister Street, Room 103 |
| Unified Family Court | Civic Center Courthouse, 400 McAllister Street, Room 402 |
| Criminal | Hall of Justice, 850 Bryant Street, Room 101 |

What This Means for Your Court Filing
Plan ahead when arranging document delivery or an in-person visit:
- Schedule counter visits during the new morning hours.
- Allow time for courthouse access and document preparation.
- Coordinate afternoon drop-offs around the court’s 4 p.m. drop-box cutoff.
The court attributes the reduced hours to ongoing budget constraints and long-term staffing reductions.
