Got A Question For Our Villa Park Process Servers?

Our Villa Park process servers report back on the questions they are most often asked. The top five are listed below, but feel free to ask your own question below in the comments.

How much does your Villa Park process service cost?

JPL’s published process-service rates are $99 for Standard, $125 for Priority, and $175 for Same Day, per party and per address. Same Day is subject to availability. See the current service levels and rates before ordering.

Included attempts depend on the location and assignment. If another address, a stakeout, research, or other additional work is needed, we discuss the fee before proceeding. Court filing is a separate service.

How long does it take to have my papers served?

The service level determines when the first attempt begins: Standard starts 3–5 business days after receipt, Priority starts the next business day, and Same Day starts the same day where available. These are first-attempt timeframes, not a guarantee that service will be completed by then.

Send your court date and any service deadline with the assignment. Contact JPL at (866) 754-0520 to confirm urgent availability.

What if the target doesn’t want to be served or is difficult to find?

Provide the recipient’s full name, complete address, and useful access or schedule details. Our servers document their attempts and provide updates. If the address is incorrect or the recipient cannot be located, we can discuss another address, a stakeout, or skip tracing, including any additional fee.

Alternative service methods depend on the case, document, and applicable rules. Your attorney or the court’s self-help center can advise you about court authorization and procedural options.

What do you do if the target absolutely refuses to accept process of service?

Refusing to take papers does not always prevent service. What the server may do depends on the circumstances and the rules for the particular document. Simply leaving papers on a door is not a general substitute for proper service.

The server records what occurred. If service is disputed, the court determines whether it was valid. For a general introduction, see the California Courts guide to serving papers.

Do I really need to hire a Villa Park process server or can I do it myself?

In California, many court papers can be served by an adult who is at least 18 and is not a party to the case. Some documents have additional requirements, so check the instructions for your case. A professional process server can handle attempts and prepare the proof of service.

You generally cannot serve your own case papers. Review the California Courts service guide or ask the court’s self-help center about the rules that apply.
